Silhouettes give a more dramatic and mysterious look by making the subject look lonely or peaceful.  The most important thing for a silhouette is to expose the background and have a brighter background. This makes you look like a shadow to the camera. This means the best time to take silhouettes is in the morning or after noon. Overall this is a cool way to take pictures but sometimes pictures can be a bit tricky
